Homeless Veteran Who Gave His Only Money to Stranded Motorist Buys House After Fundraiser Goes Viral

A homeless man who used his remaining money to fill up the gas tank of a stranded motorist has bought a house after a fundraiser begun by the woman he saved raised over $400,000.

Johnny Bobbitt Jr. made the announcement last week on the GoFundMe page created by New Jersey resident Kate McClure.

“We would like to thank everyone who had a part of this amazing ride we’ve been on for the last few days. Your kind words, donations and help getting the word out meant the world to Mark, Johnny and myself. This would’ve never happened [without] all of you,” McClure wrote.

Bobbitt says he will give some of the money to a Philadelphia student who has begun a fundraiser for another veteran in need, according to CBS.
